Archaeological finds from caves in the surrounding area testify that the use of the sulfur waters of the Frasassi Hot Springs had been taking place since Roman times; even the prehistoric peoples who settled in the area were aware of it. The beginning of the structured activity of the Frasassi Spa dates back to 1922 and developed in 1965 with the expansion of the spa complex, which determined the current appearance of the establishment.

In 2001, Frasassi Spa implemented a major innovation process by renovating all rooms, investing in new equipment for inhalation treatments and rhinogenous deafness treatment, the creation of the pediatric department, and the computerization and sanitization plant of the entire inhalation treatment process.

Today, thanks to a phase similar to that of 2001, the Frasassi Spa offers itself to the public with a completely new look, with new equipment and a new beauty department, a reference point for cures and treatments.

Within the Terme di Frasassi, in addition to the Thermal Treatment Department, a renovated Aesthetic and Massage Therapy Department will allow the aesthetic, therapeutic and relaxation spheres of our guests to be co-involved through mud baths and massages performed by our staff.
In fact, while massage therapy is added to the medical services of the Spa through therapies supplementary to curative mud and hydromassage, thermal aesthetics deals with counteracting, through massages, masks and wraps, skin imperfections by taking care of its preservation and beauty.

The sulfur mud of the Frasassi Hot Springs is a mixture of clay material and thermal water with remarkable beneficial properties exploited in both aesthetic and medical settings; in fact, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is widely used for the treatment of osteoporosis, neuralgia, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic and joint pain.

In the aesthetic field, on the other hand, mud treatments are in high demand to improve skin blemishes, heal skin, acne, blackheads, cellulite, stretch marks, and wrinkles.

The benefits are provided by the combination of the biological properties of thermal waters and the effect of heat on the skin.

The water of the Frasassi Spa is a sulfurous-sodic mineral water that scientifically belongs to the hyperthermal sulfurous waters; it is of excellent therapeutic quality and gushes out at 13° from the San Vittore spring, very close to the spa; a condition that therefore allows it to preserve the beneficial properties related to its original state of pressure and presence of gas.

Its high sulfur content makes it particularly suitable for the treatment of respiratory tract affections (otoiatric, respiratory and rhinogenous deafness affections) and rheumatism, i.e., most rheumatic-arthropathic affections.

It is important to keep in mind that sulfur is already an essential element in the human organism; it is present in both cells and tissues (skin and cartilage) and is a major contributor to important therapeutic benefits, providing an important boost to tissue growth and regeneration, skeletal muscle and heart activity, hemoglobin activity, and antibody formation.
